Guys I was actually planning to write a post about physics but I m currently at a tattoo session getting my bracelet finished and I m way too lazy to type properly with one hand So here s the short version The speed of light is constant always no matter what And time bends itself around that fact Light speed absolutely hates competition like say if you re sprinting to the bathroom with diarrhea time will literally slow down Can t risk you arriving faster than the light It also hates warped space like the kind created by very massive objects black holes for example Or even Earth These objects sort of dent space like putting a heavy ball on a blanket Light has to travel along the curve which makes its journey longer And when light takes longer time slows down Near a black hole if you watch someone falling in it ll seem like they re just standing there at the edge frozen in place never actually crossing over Real-world application GPS satellites literally use these calculations so your pizza doesn t get delivered 100 kilometers off course The satellites are moving fast time slows down But they re farther from Earth s gravity dent so the light path is straighter To make the signal accurate the system has to calculate the difference between that motion-based slowdown and the gravity-based time curve Otherwise no pizza Or worse pizza in Belarus
