Hello I did not forget to update I ve literally marked my physical calendar to update every two weeks so that I would make sure to update before the weekend is over What a time to be alive huh Tiktok is currently offline as of like 7pm EST on January 18 2025 and I m on here haha -Edit Tiktok came back online after Trump posted on his social media app that he d pause the blackout which gave their legal team the OK to bring it back I guess His legal authority to do so as President is questionable since it was both the House and Senate who voted in favor of the ban Fun stuff Welp let s see Since last post I went through with getting braces after seeing three different orthodontists How the situation came to be was from my past couple of videos where I mentioned I had a whopping total of four gum grafts done because of the horrible periodontal disease I sort of compounded onto myself due to many years of improper brushing so brush in circles and with an extra soft toothbrush After finishing my last graft the periodontist recommended that I see an orthodontist because if I didn t fix how my teeth were aligned then I ll most likely have gum recession problems again and I d rather not go through the process of having slices of my soft palate harvested from the roof of my mouth to patch up my horrible teeth again for the fifth or sixth time I was hoping I didn t have to go through that process of seeing three different doctors because I did that with the periodontists but it snowballed into that after the first one referred me out because he believed I needed a combination of jaw surgery braces while the second one didn t think surgery was needed but recommended that I should also seek out a third opinion because his clinic was quite far from where I reside and he said the cost of braces are relatively the same whether you decide to go to an orthodontic school far away or not so I did The third orthodontist basically sort of combined both opinions I had received noting that since my maxilla upper jaw was narrow compared to my lower jaw ideally I would need corrective jaw surgery to push my mandible lower jaw back and my maxilla forward or something That s because my bite isn t like the ideal slight overbite My incisors are basically on top of each other and have chipped a bit due to teeth grinding in my sleep and my molars don t touch at all But since I don t exactly have problems eating or speaking it isn t really necessary and the surgery for itself can come with complications which I agreed I failed to mention that the third orthodontist did a panoramic radiograph of my mouth and a side profile x-ray as part of the free consultation I learned that a lot of orthodontists in Southern California actually do free consultations but the radiographs went the extra mile so he ended up recommending that I go through the process of fixing my bite with Invisalign rather than traditional braces The reason for that is because the radiographs showed the amount of bone loss I have in my mouth so don t be like me and refresh yourselves on how to brush your teeth I already knew about it from my dental visits over the past couple of years though The two years of Invisalign will be a slower straightening process because the doctor didn t want to unintentionally create further bone loss The second doctor was pretty much right about the prices being similar Even with it being Invisalign over traditional braces I would only be paying around 200 hundred dollars more for hidden braces and having my recheck visits be walking distance from my home so I ended up going with the third orthodontist It s funny because part of the reason why I went there was because my dental insurance put them as a provider but I had previously called them to ask how out-of-network reimbursements worked after I had seen the second opinion and they told me twice that I wasn t covered even though I had all the insurance terms in front of my face and no point of reference as proof that I was not covered I had then made the appointment with the third place and reiterated that but when I had paid for the braces they said I was covered so I paid a quite bit less than what I was expecting to Lesson is doing second and third opinion doctor visits is very insightful and can save you a ton of money even though it s annoying as fuck I didn t even mention this in the beginning but when I had estimates presented to me for those gum grafts I had one that was almost ten thousand dollars and I definitely didn t pay that Eventually I got a majority of it done with insurance and copays because the process of getting each area grafted took about a year and a half so do your research and see what medical schools in your area have clinics as well I did initially pay out of pocket but it was no where near that 10k I was born such an anomaly I got crowded lower jaw narrow upper jaw frenulum under my tongue as well somewhere else jaundice as a newborn paraphimosis as a kid I forgot to mention that since I m such an uncommon case I ll be starting Invisalign with just my top teeth and then he ll see how to go about the bottom teeth but I ll be going to get my trays in a little over a week I went through the process of getting 3D imaging of my mouth for the production of those trays a little over a week prior and it was SUPER COOL seeing the pictures of my teeth get stitched together into three dimensions It was SO MUCH LESS AWKWARD AND GROSS TASTING than getting the mold done as well I basically just typed an essay on the
