For those new here Ponchartrain Beach was a beach and amusement park that was on the south shore of Lake Ponchartrain here in New Orleans It was opened in 1928 by the grandfather of actor Bryan Batt for those of you that like the show Mad Men and closed in 1983 Ponchartrain Beach had a killer tiki restaurant on the property called the Bali Hai club whose tiki mugs are hard to get your hands on I ve worked though a lot of them through the shop and they sell within minutes So if in your travels this summer you find a tiki mug take a second glance at it - you might have found treasure
