TO CRUSH OR NOT TO CRUSH THAT IS THE QUESTION Short story It was a morning like many others Dan entered his kitchen and prapared himself a cup of coffee He had the day off so he took his time having no hurry He was already dressed cause he planned to have a good walk once finished his breakfast Once his coffee was ready he grad the cup and take a sip turning around to head toward the table His size 12 sneakered feet rise off the floor to take a step and it was in that precise moment that he spotted something on the floor Was it a bug Or maybe another of those humants that here and then he spotted scurrying around into his home The pinkish color of his skin and the high pitched buzzing noise he was making let him tell he was one of this last ones For a brief moment he stops with his foot lifted mid air above the minuscule creature The poor thing fell down on his ass probably too terrified for his legs to cooperate properly He held his hand up probably in an instinctive attempt to protect himself from the giant foot looming above him and producing those high pitched sounds that probably were nothing but pleads to be spared Dan let out a soft sigh a mixture of annoyance and even some pity for the pathetic tiny creature He had to take a simple choice Go on with his step and drop his foot where it was supposed to fall obliterating the humant or change his step and spare that minuscule life just few inches of difference where he d drop his foot down would had been enough to spare him It wasn t the first time Dan found one of them into his house nor probably the last one and it was just the same for other kind of bugs He was a good guy so he even let them be if them weren t too much of an annoyance He wouldn t change his path just to go squish one mostly he discovered about them after hearing a crunch under his feet after stepping on them without even notice -Damn another one of those it s the third in just few days I wonder if I should start to worry I m having an infestation or something Poor thing he s terrified can t blame him since he s under my foot must be huge for him heck it s considered big also by my friends - Dan thought to himself while his foot was still rised off the floor All this was happening in just a fraction of seconds since thoughts and mind works surprisingly quickly -I could spare him but to be honest he shouldn t be here inside my home at all to be fair I spotted some of his kind before and didn t changed my steps to go squish them so why should I do it to spare him Sorry little one wrong place wrong time I guess - with that thought the decision was taken Without a word he simply continue his walking this hesitation lasted about one second or two just enough to allow the poor little guy a good terrifying view of his colossal sneakered sole The giant foot came down withouth further hesitation it s impossible weight obliterated the little guy in an istant with a small CRUNCK Dan couldn t even feel him under his sneaker but could hear that by now well known POP below his foot To him this was just a step a step like many others and sparing or crushing that humant actually didn t changed a thing for him his life wasn t going to be effected about this in any way With a soft smirk on his face he didn t give the tiny creature he just crushed another thought he simply went on walking without even checking what it was of him it wasn t needed he had no doubts about the outcome Taking another sip of his coffee he gets ready to enjoy his day just like this didn t even happened at all
